Color Crush: Blush Pink

I've been really loving this color lately. I know it was really popular in the winter, and I hope it stays around for spring! Pink is one of my favorite colors, and I might be a little partial to this blush shade since I trained in ballet for so long, and I had to wear it quite a lot. Either way, here are some of my favorite current pieces from coats to bags!

What's in my Makeup Bag

Today I'm showing you what is inside my makeup bag! Honestly I usually just have everything sitting on this tray I keep on my desk, but when I clean every once in a while they do all fit in this cute little bag!
I got this cosmetic bag at J. Crew about 2 years ago I think and it was marked down for like $5, which is great that it has lasted me this long! I'm a bit obsessed this print, I might also have corduroys and a dress in it...

NARS lip pencil (sample)
Nail Clippers
Bee Kind lotion (sample)
Used often but not pictured (because it's too big for the bag): Urban Decay Naked 2 palette

Easter Dress Picks

Easter is on it's way! Growing up as a Catholic in the south, I've always loved picking the perfect Easter dress, like this post from last year. I've also always gone to Catholic school, even in college now so I always get a few extra days of school off which always nice! A post with this year's dress is coming next week, but until then here are some of my favorites for this year. Actually a dress like one of these are what I would wear if I was going home to NC for Easter, but where I am for school people don't dress up as much, mostly because it's usually still a little cold!

Styling Rockstuds with Madeline of The Black Barcode

Today I've teamed up with Madeline, of The Black Barcode to show you how we both style heels inspired by Valentino Rockstuds! Mine are from Light In The Box and I just love the hot pink color! After planning this collab back in January it's great to finally get the photos up, it has just been way too cold to take any! It was still super windy when I did get to take these photos, so please forgive my hair flying in every direction :/

Step into Spring Link Up

Happy second day of spring! I'm linking up with some fabulous bloggers for the Step into Spring Link Up hosted by Mikayla of A Seerucker State of Mind to show spring looks today! Unfortunately it's still freezing here in PA but, most of the snow is gone which is pretty fantastic! It's nice to see some grass up here for the first time since November, and temperatures in the high 30's and 40's. I just hope we don't get much more snow and it continues to warm up! So here is an early spring look for cooler temperatures.
And don't forget to check out the rest of the Link Up!

Dress: J. Crew, Shirt: J. Crew (similar), Heels: Audrey Brooke (very similar), Necklace: Zara (similar), Ring: Kendra Scott, Earrings; Francesca's (very very similar), Sunglasses: Ray Ban, Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs (similar)

Splurge or Save: Handbags

I used to do these Look for Less or Splurge or Save posts a lot when I first started blogging, but I haven't done one in quite a while. So after a lot of recent shopping I think another one is order! Here are some beautiful, but very expensive handbags next to some less expensive alternatives.

Green Accessories for St. Patrick's Day

Growing up in the south, St. Patrick's Day was not always a big deal for me. But since I started college at an Irish Catholic school, it's probably the biggest holiday of the year for us. My parents always did something special when my brother and I were younger like making Shamrock pancakes and saying leprechauns visited our house because we're Catholic and a little Irish. But up at school now we usually start celebrating a few days before, which requires wearing lots of green, which isn't always easy if you only have a few green clothing items. So green accessories are usually much easier to pull together a green outfit. So here are some of my favorites!

Spring Break Shopping

I'm home in NC for Spring Break! Since there are not any of my favorite stores near where I go to school, I spend a good amount of time shopping (or at least browsing) just about every break. So I thought I would share some snaps from this trip!
I went to the stores I always go to like J. Crew, Lilly Pulitzer, Belk, etc. and then I went to Southpoint Mall in Durham to see the new Kendra Scott store and a few other stores there! And I ended up meeting two fellow NC bloggers! When I was at Belk at home, I ran into Sarah of Stylish, Sassy, and Classy Blog while she was working, and at the Kendra Scott store I ran into Corbin of Classy South Blog also working. I have followed both of these girls for a while, and it's kind of crazy I walked into the stores they work at, while they were there, within two days of each other!
I ended up getting my first Elsa top, and for half off!
I'm basically obsessed with this dress, I haven't bought it yet but I plan to sometime soon!
The new Kendra Scott store was so beautiful!
So many Skylar earrings!
In the bag: this ring, this necklace
Also, the weather has been so warm and I've been loving every minute of it! It has rained a fair amount, but basically spring temperatures! Going back to 40s in PA is not going to be fun. But it's still going to be nice compared to how it was right before I left!

Currently Craving: Suede Pumps

I've recently been really obsessed with suede pumps, I think they are just so pretty! I have 2 pairs myself, there are so many fun colors. I also like how the suede makes them a little bit understated. Here are some of my favorites!

A Guide to Flying Home from College

Since I go to school in Pennsylvania, I fly home to North Carolina for breaks several times a year. I usually fly from a very small airport by my school, to a slightly larger airport at home, so I always have to make a connection in a larger airport. This does not always go very well. Actually it has only really gone well for me three times out of eight trips. But either way, I usually still prefer it to the 8 hour drive. My parents drive me when I move in and move out, but I don't think I could do the drive all alone. I don't really like driving for a really long time in the first place, and for Thanksgiving and Christmas break the weather is usually so unpredictable. I wouldn't want to risk driving over 500 miles through a snowstorm on my own!
I have seen a lot of things due to flight issues such as weather cancellations, being stuck overnight in an airport, having a plane turn around just before it was about to land at home because the pilot didn't think the conditions were safe to land, had my luggage lost, missed my connection due to delays on the first flight (4 times), ran across the airport to make a connection just in time, ran across the airport get on the next flight to North Carolina (even though it was to a different airport than planned), and had to wait up to 8 hours for the next flight, in the past 3 years. So here is what I have learned through these experiences.
1. It is easier if you can stay calm: I tend to cry a lot when flight issues come up. Especially the times where I miss my connection, I think some airline employees feel bad for me, but others are just annoyed. This past trip I just missed my connection but I was able to keep it together, and it seemed a lot easier to deal with. Maybe because I knew I had other options and wasn't going to get stuck in Chicago, but I was able to communicate my problem and find another flight a lot easier when I kept things together!
2. Take advantage of your time if you're stuck waiting around: as I said I've had to wait up to 8 hours for another flight before. It's kind of fun to explore the airport. I've only been stuck in larger ones, so there are usually things to do. look in the shops, if it's an airport you frequently fly through and don't usually get the time to stop at a certain place (like a Starbucks or a Pinkberry or something) use that time to do that. Or just walk around, and if you have homework or something that could be done, use that time to do it.
3. Prepare for the worst: In case you get stuck waiting around for a while, or even overnight, it's always good to have chargers so you can keep using your phone, tablet, laptop, and snacks so you don't have to spend a lot of money on airport food!  This is especially if you have a short layover, because it's a lot easier to miss a connection that way. And some larger planes might gate check your carry on if there isn't room in the overhead compartments (this is usually if you're in one of the last zones or boarding groups) so it's always nice to have those things in your "personal item" bag. Just in case you don't see that bag again until you finally make it home.
And if possible, avoiding smaller airports probably helps. I only fly through them because sometimes they are cheaper (at least for where I fly to), and I don't want to drive several hours to a larger airport, and leave my car there paying for the expensive parking. And as I said in the beginning of the post, I feel a lot safer and would probably rather be stuck in an airport by myself than drive for 8 hours (usually through the snow) by myself!

Lilly Pulitzer Spring 2015

As I've been saying in just about every post lately, I am so excited for some warm weather! And one of my favorite stores, Lilly Pulitzer has some gorgeous new items that just get me that much more excited for spring! I'm so excited they brought back the First Impressions print in yellow and blue, a long with some of my favorite styles like the silk racerback top and the buttercup short! Here are some of my favorites this season :)

P.S. I'm sorry it's actually been a month since I've done an outfit post. It has just been so unbearably cold, our average temperature for February was only 13 degrees! We had lots of morning around -10 with the lowest being -17, too cold to even go to class. I hope to make more outfit posts as the temperatures are slowly rising!

Insta Lately

I'm currently getting ready to go home for spring break in a few days and I'm so excited! I'm probably most excited to forget about my snow boots and my giant coat for a bit and go home to warmer weather!

So here are some snaps from my Instagram, follow along if you aren't already @cara_194!

Similar boots, denim

It never stops snowing.
There are some spots on campus where it's piled high about as high as my hips! I am short, but that's still a lot of snow! So these boots, my rain boots, and my riding boots are about all I have been able to wear lately. I also haven't seen a single blade of grass since I was last home in January so I'm probably more excited than I should be to see some this week!
Pink and green necklace, green earrings, state necklace, tray they are all laying on
My desk is usually a huge dress, lately it was a pretty mess of accessories!

Tried out a local coffee shop for the first time, it was really good!

Blanket scarf, similar coat

It has been so cold the past few weeks (it was -17 with windchill of I think -34 when this photo was taken) I've kind of only looked like this going to class...luckily it's warming up a little every day now.

My favorite "white and gold dress", I know everyone is probably sick of "the dress" jokes. But it's blue and black!

Nail polish, similar earrings

My favorite quote from my Lilly planner to start off March :)
