Fitness Friday II

original post

Welcome back to Fitness Friday! If you missed last mont's post, I am breaking down my workouts, some new foods and recipes, and activewear picks once a month. This month, I got to do a few free workouts with SweatNET Charlotte (join for discounts at many studios, free workout events, and more!) that have all been fun. I also took advantage of the very generous new client special at First Wind Cycling and Fitness ($30 for 30 days unlimited) this month. You may have known I used to frequent Xtend Barre in Charlotte, and the studio has unfortunately closed. However, a few of the instructors are now at First Wind teaching some very similar barre classes. I think I also made some food progress this month. I have been really trying to at least cook more, even if it is not the healthiest option. Or something simply like making scrambled eggs rather than microwaving something frozen, or picking up food somewhere on the way home.

Workouts:

So, I ended up with 21 workouts since my last Fitness Friday post. As I mentioned last time, if you are curious about any of the classes I go to, feel free to send an email or message on Insta!

Food:
  1. I mentioned last month, that I tried to make this avocado pasta recipe, but ended up using a regular pesto sauce instead. Since then, I did try the whole recipe. I generally didn't think I liked avocado very much, but I really liked this recipe! I don't know if I'll be making it regularly, but it is fairly simple to make.
  2. I used to make these oatmeal energy bites fairly often. But, I kind of forgot about them, so I got back into making them. My mom used to make them a lot when I was living at home between college and moving to Charlotte. I think they are a great snack for when I get home from work, before I head to a workout.
  3. I also have been trying to make a habit out of eating more fruit as snacks. Which may not seem like much, but it is kind of a lot for me. I have been eating a few oranges a week, and sometimes switching that out for an apple with peanut butter.
  4. Another dinner recipe I have recently found and liked is this cheesy chicken quinoa casserole. I think I had only had quinoa in pasta form before, but I surprisingly really liked it in this recipe! It is kind of tough for me to not like something with cheese and chicken in it though...I think its a good option to make early in the week and eat leftovers for a few nights. I made it on a Tuesday, and it lasted until Saturday!

Pink Stripe Shirt Dress

Polo Ralph Lauren shirtdress (kid's size, similar here and here) | Baublebar for Target tassel earrings c/o | DSW heeled sandals | Similar mini tote | Lilly and Oak tassel c/o | Stella and Dot "Parker" sunglasses c/o

Here I go again, 24 years old and buying clothing from the kids section. If you're also around 5'2", this shirtdress is quite the deal! I found it for $25 at my local Belk store, and I'm wearing a kid's size 14. It is actually the same style as this one I posted last year. I plan on wearing this dress with heeled sandals like above for things like brunch and church, and dressed down a little with flats and simpler jewelry for work. I think it is so much fun for spring, and I love the shade of pink!

March Finds Under $50

Sunglasses ($13) | Mid-heel sandals ($25) | Gingham bow-back top ($30) | Gathered stripe skirt ($27) | Cluster stud earrings ($30) | Bell sleeve top ($30) | Colorblock tote bag ($40) | Teal dress ($38) | Gingham mules ($25)

Now that it is officially spring, I'm ready for all the spring clothes! I am so excited to spend more time outside and put away all of my winter sweaters. Although it is still snowing up north, it has been warming up a lot here in Charlotte! I think I need this peplum gingham top in my life. I also think these mid-heeled sandals would be a great replacement for a similar pair I've had for a few years. This dress would also be great for work, and comes in several different colors. And as always, in case you missed it, here are my finds under $50 for January and February!

Navy T-Shirt Dress

Lilly Pulitzer "Essie" dress | Similar wedges | Gigi New York "Madison" bag | Kendra Scott earrings | Stella and Dot "Parker" sunglasses c/o

I have quite the collection of printed and striped t-shirt dresses, so now I have a solid one too! I know I have mentioned this before, but my go-to comfortable outfit would always be one of these dresses over a t-shirt and athletic shorts. Like most of my Lilly Pulitzer items, I also got a great deal on this dress during the last After Party Sale! I love wearing a dress like this one for just about everything in the spring/summer, from going shopping, to brunch, or just hanging around a coffeeshop. These comfy dresses are also perfect for travel, they don't wrinkle much, and this solid navy is so versatile!

Lilly Pulitzer for Pottery Barn Brands Picks

Toile wallpaper | Pineapple lamp | Tassel beach towel | Gold wall art set | Coral print pillow | Flamingo print pillow | Printed bedding set | Printed chair

You may have heard that Lilly Pulitzer has recently released a collaboration with Pottery Barn, PB Teen, and Pottery Barn Kids! I really wish this collection came out right before I decorated my apartment. A lot of the collection is larger items, so there is not much I can incorporate into my little place. But I plan on getting a beach towel (or two)! I really love the printed wallpaper options, how cute is this blue toile? Lilly Pulitzer has also come out with a pop-up print to celebrate the collaboration in classic styles like the Elsa Top and Sophie Dress! Is there anything you have your eye on from this collection?

5 Spring Wardrobe Staples

I tend to live by a "if it fits, buy it in every color" motto when it comes to my clothes. If I find something I really like, I buy it in a lot of similar styles in different colors or multiple prints. So I thought I would break down my top 5 favorite styles for spring!

Shift dresses
I can't resist a good shift dress! I wear them layered with shirts for work, or on their own for dinner, brunch, church, and many other occasions! I have this solid seersucker one, and this printed one in several different prints. I like dressing them up with wedges or heels and some statement accessories, or dressing them down with flat sandals and simpler accessories.

White jeans
I feel like this is kind of self explanatory, white jeans go with everything. And I think it is nice to have a few different pairs, maybe one with a raw hem like this pair, one with a high waist fit like this pair. My favorite way to wear them in the spring is with a peplum top or some other statement like bell sleeves!

T-shirt dresses
I think the easiest outfit to put together is a t-shirt dress and sandals. I have a few more of these dresses than I would probably like to admit, but they're so cute and comfy! I also typically buy them with long sleeves. In general, no matter if it s a top, dress, or romper I tend to wear either long sleeves or sleeveless.

Rompers
Who doesn't love a fun romper in the spring and summer? I really like wearing sleeved rompers to go out at night, and sleeveless ones for brunch or a brewery during the day. I tend to go for more casual looking ones like this one. As pretty as dressier ones like this one are, I don't find that I can wear them very often.

Shirt dresses
Shirt dresses are a work favorite of mine, I've racked up quite a few of them over the last year or so. I usually look for ones with more flared skirts like this one and this one. I don't really know why, but I think they are so fun to wear! If you are near my height (5'2") I find these in kid's sizes in the Ralph Lauren section of department stores. But there are also some other great options out there in adult sizes like this one and this one!
