A Chat with Emily of Life With Emily Blog!

One of my last days at home I met up with Emily, of Life With Emily Blog at a local coffee shop! I figured out about a year ago that we live in the same area, and we've been commenting on each other's Instagrams ever since then. I love her style, and it was so much fun meeting her!

Her social media and blog posts always make me miss home when I'm back at school! We had so much fun just talking blogging and enjoying coffee! Unfortunately, the barista there wasn't the best photographer :/

And I asked her a few questions for this post:

What do you think is your one most worn clothing item or accessory?

Describe your style in three words
"Classic, feminine, trendy"

What is your favorite social media platform?
"Instagram!"

What is an opportunity you have gotten through blogging, that you never would have expected when you started?
"About 2 days ago, I got an offer to speak at a governors conference hosted by visitnc.com on the importance of social media interaction. I never would have thought I would have gotten to do that when I first started."

What is it like working from home, how do you schedule everything?
"I usually schedule posts for the week on Sundays, and I try to put everything on an editorial calendar for sponsored posts and collaborations a month in advance."

Winter Break Recap

After 6 weeks at home for Christmas break and taking an online J Term class, I had to leave the warmer temperatures of the south and face the snow again at school for spring semester. It's been nice avoiding the lake effect snow for 3 weeks, I'm really glad this online class is over. I tried flying back to school on Monday but with the blizzard affecting the northeast, my first flight was delayed, meaning I would miss my second flight. So I re-scheduled my flights for tomorrow morning since everything was closed today. So I got a bonus day and a half at home! Anyway, my semester starts tomorrow, I'm missing my first few classes, but this was a really great time spent at home!

I had a lot of fun celebrating Christmas

New Year's
My dad's 50th birthday and my 21st birthday

Spent lots of time blogging

Went to a blogging meet up, and met one of my favorite bloggers who happens to be in my area!

To all of the other college students out there, enjoy your spring semester!

Gossip Girl Link Up

Today is National Gossip Girl Day! For real, it's a thing. So I'm celebrating my favorite show  by taking part in the Gossip Girl Link Up hosted by Michaela, Carrie, and Courtney! To view the other bloggers participating in this link up, just check out any of their posts and it's linked at the end!

Blair Waldorf has always been a huge style inspiration for me, so of course that's the GG lady I chose to dress as for this post! I took these photos with Annaliese and Gina during our NC Her Campus Blogger meet up that I posted about last week

I was trying to do a "judging Blair face", but I kind of just look I'm walking to one of my 8am classes before coffee, or I want to kill someone...

Shirt: J. Crew, Skirt: Tinley Road (navy sold out, available in gray, white and black), Tights: J. Crew (old), Shoes: J. Crew, Bow: used to be on a Gap sweater I had in high school, Headband: J. Crew (old)
1. Who is your outfit inspired by and why did you pick them?
Blair, because I've basically been attempting to look like her since high school. Although her personality is not the most admirable, she just always looked amazing!

2.  Favorite Gossip Girl moment?
Easily the end of the season 2 finale (*spoiler alert for those of those you watching on Netflix from the beginning*) when Chuck finally tells Blair he loves her!

Favorite Makeup Products

Just like my post about Hunter boots, I've been getting a lot of questions on my Tumblr lately about what makeup I wear. So here are some of my favorite products, that I wear just about every day!
1- Benefit Hello Flawless Oil-Free Liquid Foundation
I have to use oil free products because my skin is very acne prone, and I love this foundation! I used to wear a Bobbi Brown oil-free liquid foundation but it was $54 a bottle and I couldn't find any stores near school that sold it, so I just couldn't be spending close to $60 after shipping, every few months on one product, and I think this is a great alternative!
2- CoverGirl Oil-Free Concealer
As I said about my foundation, I need oil-free products and this one is just a nice, simple, concealer with good coverage
3- Model Co Mascara
I got this in my Birchbox a few months ago, and I love it!
4- Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer in Greed
Makes a big difference with Urban Decay eye shadow palettes, and this color adds gold shimmer to whatever colors you use
5-Urban Decay Naked 2 Eye Shadow Palette
The best, it just has any neutral color you would ever need and they all mix so well!
6- Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner
I've always had some form of liquid eyeliner like this, this is what I'm currently using and it's about the same as a Sephora brand and Almay one I used before
7- Pixi Beauty Shea Butter Lip Balm in Ripe Raspberry
I also got this in my Birchbox and it's really great, it's a great color and it's basically chapstick so it keeps my lips from drying out while wearing it!
8- Bobbi Brown lipstick in Brick Red
My mom actually bought this color on accident a few years ago and I used it for stage makeup for a while, but now it's one of my favorites, especially during the holiday season!
9- L'Oreal Lipstick in Pink Cashmere
I got this really light pink a few months ago for I think $2 on sale at Target and it's a great neutral color I wear all the time, but not really available at any stores anymore :/
10-Nyx Lipstick in Shiva
These are priced really well and this is my favorite fuchsia/raspberry color
11-NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien
I actually just this last weekend because it's the new birthday gifts from Sephora (it also comes with a red matte one), but they're pretty awesome and this one is a great neutral color

HCBN North Carolina Blogger Meet-up

This weekend I got together with Annaliese of Southern Belle in Training and Gina of Gina Alyse- Fuel Your Creative Calling for a Her Campus North Carolina blogger meet-up! I have recently become a part of the Her Campus Blogger Network, and this was for the regional North Carolina group. We were supposed to have some other HCBN bloggers with us, they couldn't make it, but we had so much fun just the 3 of us!

It was so great to meet both of these amazing girls and talk blogging with them all day long! We had lunch, went shopping, took blog photos, and finished the day with cupcakes! It was so great to spend time with girls who go to school in the area who share my interest in blogging. We had a lot of fun, and I really hope I'm home from school the next time a meet-up is planned :)

My necklace hit me in the face, and we lost Gina in this one...

Kid's Size Hunter Boot FAQ

I tend to wear my hot pink kids sized Hunter boots probably more than one person should. I've been getting a lot of questions on my Tumblr about how the kids sizing works in comparison to adult sizing, so that's what this post is for! I recommend buying the kids Hunters if you have small feet and are short, because not only are they half the price of the adult ones, they are a much better height on the legs if yours are short like mine!

What size did you get?

These are the Original Gloss kid's boot in "big kid" size 4M in the color "lipgloss" that I ordered from Nordstrom about a year and a half ago. Here is what they offer for colors and styles!

How do the kids sizes compare to adult sizes?

I usually wear a 5.5 or sometimes a 6 in women's shoes, this is the size chart I used to figure out my size.

I'm 5'2" and they fit me well, they're just a bit short but I would take that over the adult sizes that go over my knees. I also don't think anyone can tell they are kid's boots unless I tell them, or they know from the reflectors on the back.

How are Hunters in the snow?

They're alright. If you go in snow above the tops of your feet they get veryy cold, unless you have the welly socks in, which they also make in kids sizes. Even with them, my feet still get pretty cold in deep snow though. If the areas are plowed or the snow isn't that high (basically a regular snowfall in any southern state) they do just fine, and have pretty good traction for ice!

Here they are with a skirt so you can see where they height ends up compared to my knees a little better than with pants

And another look with pants

And finally, as you can sort of see in this photo (sorry, this is the only one I had of the back of them) there are little silver reflectors at the top edge and heel of the kid's ones. I don't think they're a big deal, but I don't see the back of my own legs so, I really don't know. But that's just something to also know if you want to buy the kid's size!

Initials for Days

So I accidentally wore 5 C's in 1 outfit....monogrammers gonna monogram? Anyway, I got the initial cuff from a giveaway from York Design Co and since I wear so much pink and navy I've been finding a lot to wear with it! And I made this post before I heard about the unfortunate news about C Wonder and their closing. I have always been drawn to C Wonder items with their logo on them, because they're basically already monogrammed for me, I will really miss that store. But I've heard they're going wholesale so they won't be totally gone! And you should check out what's left on their website, everything is 75% off!

Sweater: C Wonder (R.I.P. :( sold out), Chambray: Madewell (old), Necklace: J. Crew Factory, Jeans: J Brand (old color, same style in regular denim), Cuff: York Design Co, Shoes: J. Crew (old, factory version), Hat: Vineyard Vines, Earrings: Kate Spade
