P.S. sorry I think I'll only have 2 posts up again this week. I had a virus on my computer that blocked me from using the internet, so it spent a day at the IT desk at school. But they fixed it, yay!

NYFW Street Style September 2015: Looks for Less and Favorites

I always love looking at the street style photos every NYFW, and this season surely didn't disappoint!  I tend to favor the more classic and elegant styles and there were quite a few great examples of that this time around, hello outfit inspiration. Here are some of my favorite looks, and some similar, less expensive items!

P.S. sorry I don't think I can get an outfit post up this week, I've had test or paper in just about every class and lots going on at my internship. But I'll definitely have one for next week!

The Chambray Shirt

I have to say that my chambray shirt is probably the most worn item in my closet. I actually planned on making a post about pieces I always wear year round, but once I discovered just how often I wear this shirt and I had to dedicate a whole post to it. I actually found this particular shirt for $10! I went to J. Crew Factory for an after Christmas sale 2 years ago, and this Madewell chambray was there. It was extra 60% off sale items, so combined with my student ID discount for an extra 15%, this ended up being only $10.
I've definitely gotten more than my money's worth out it! This is just such a staple for me, I love navy, so this dark denim might be what makes it so versatile for me. I wear it by itself with a skirt, or shorts, or over a dress when it's warm. Or with printed denim, colored denim, faux leather pants, or under a sweater when it's cold. You name it, I've probably worn it that way!

Zebras

T shirt dresses are probably the comfiest things I own. This similar style was also on the blog not too long ago and I love how I can wear them on their own, like I do with the v neck styles. Or I can dress them up a little, like this one, that has a boat neckline.  I would wear it when it's warmer outside with sandals by itself, but yesterday I wore it like this, layered with a chambray underneath it, and ankle boots. It has been 50s in the morning and 70s-80s in the afternoon, so this works well for both! This was my second purchase from the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale about a month ago, the top from this post was the first purchase. It was marked down to $44, and I know I will more than my money's worth out of that with all of the ways I will wear it!

Burgundy: Under $100

Burgundy, Wine, Pantone Color of the Year Marsala, Maroon, Oxblood, whatever you want to call it, I have been loving it lately. I think this might be because I think it coordinated well with 2 of my other favorite colors, navy and blush pink. And like I said in my pleated skirt post somewhat recently, I'm surprised I like this color so much because it was one of the colors included in my catholic school uniforms I wore for 9 years. I guess after a 7 year break I am ready for it again, I guess I already started adding it back in last year with this sweater. Anyway, here are some of my picks in this lovely color for fall, all under $100!
1- Loft Fluid Utility Jumpsuit
2- Lush "Karly" Dress
3- Loft Tweed Flippy Skirt
4- Gap Fit and Flare Dress
5- Lulu's Carmen Sun Diego Hat
6- Baublebar Festival Tassel Bracelet
7- Kendra Scott Alex Earrings
8- J. Crew Parker Bag
9- Halogen Pointy Toe Studded Flat
10- Sole Society Jenn Pointy Toe Pump
11- Nars Audacious Lipstick in Oxblood
12- Essie Bordeaux Nail Color

Instagram Confessions 2

I made one of these posts last Spring, and I always find it really interesting to know if there's a story behind certain photos for Instagram. It's no secret that people try to only show the best, and prettiest, parts of their life in these photos. So here's the stories behind a few of my recent ones! I'll also be treating it like an Insta Lately post with some outfit details.

Follow along if you aren't already, @cara_194

I was taking this photo by my kitchen table at first, but my dog kept trying to photobomb it. So I moved to my staircase because I know he doesn't like to sit there...

And here is the first try

So Sarah and I literally went to this coffee shop just because we knew they did latte art, as shown in the photo. She asked the barista to make sure we got the latte art (the girl who took our order was new so she didn't know how to do it yet), just for the Insta...but it was well worth it. It was a really good latte, it had both dark chocolate and white chocolate, and we have a new favorite place to get them!

So I don't usually sit around outside with my planner in between classes. I have a few times before when it's nice out, but this photo was taken because I locked myself out of my apartment and I was waiting on one of my roommates to get out of class. I also got some weird looks from people walking by as I took the photo.

I went to brunch with my best friend and roommate Hannah the weekend before last.  She just knew to not take a sip of her drink before I could take a photo. And when I was trying to decide what meal to order she just said "Well, what would look better for the gram?" She just knows me too well!
