Colorblock Shift Dress

This shift dress is one of several I have loved from Lauren James. I got several dresses when they marked everything down to just $10. Most of the dresses are no longer available, but this style can still be found here and here in different colors. It seems like the company has all but said "we're going out of business" when you take a look at their website. The entire site is marked all the way down, there weren't any new spring products, and the more recent ones look (at least in my opinion) very off from the original brand aesthetic. Founder Lauren Stokes, left the company last year and shared all about it on her blog here. As soon as she announced the transition, it made a lot of sense to me. I noticed the brand had really changed in the previous year before then, but not for the better.

I always loved the classic seersucker dresses, gameday styles, and really enjoyed working them on Caralina Style (walk down memory lane with me here, here, and here). I've posted quite a few other pieces from the brand outside of collaborations as well. I even had the chance to meet Lauren back in 2016 when they sponsored the Carolina Cup. She has moved on and started her own wine brand, but I am very sad to see what looks like the end of a brand I love to wear. After the recent J. Crew bankruptcy news (although it seems to have been talked about for the last several years), I'm really hoping this isn't a trend I'll continue to see with my favorite brands. But regardless, I'll still be posting the other dresses I found from the $10 Lauren James sale as well!

Thanks for reading!

  1. This dress is gorgeous on you! It was such a fun memory meeting Lauren at the Carolina Cup. I'm still shocked what's happened to the brand!
