Fitness Friday XVIII

Bringing Fitness Friday in to the new decade with today's post! If you're new here, this is my monthly roundup of my workouts, foods I have tried, and some of the cutest activewear picks. Plus some goals for the year since we are in January. And in case you missed it, here are my posts recapping October and November.

Workouts
Since my last post was at the end of the first week of December, I don't have a whole lot to add.
I traveled to Clemson for my brother's graduation, to Greensboro for Christmas, and Raleigh for New Year's Eve. I sort of took it as a holiday break for my hip injury, and ended up taking about 2 weeks off.

Since my last post I did go to the following classes:
Lower body at Barry's Bootcamp
Ballet Fit Theory at Fit Atelier (twice)
Arms and Abs at Barry's Bootcamp
Cardio Dance at Bloc (twice)
Reform at Pure Barre

I guess this new year is a good time to set some goals! I think that now that my hip is consistently keeping up, I am going to try to stick to 2-3 classes per week and try to branch out again into some other types of classes. I have been doing a lot of classes with sculpting, some dance cardio, and barre. Those are my favorite types of classes, but I miss yoga (although I have to be careful with my hip in a heated class), have been meaning to get in to more pilates classes, and have been wanting to try to get back into the occasional HIIT class. I will of course be documenting it all right here on the blog!

Food

  1. I did not do a whole lot of cooking with all of the family time in the last month. But one thing I did cook was I recipe I actually found on Tiktok, of all places. I can't really link the recipe, but it is all from Trader Joe's: creamy tomato soup, cauliflower gnocchi, about a cup of frozen chicken, and a few cups of spinach. It was so easy to make, and is great for winter time!
  2. The team at work has been frequenting Cava for lunch lately, and I'm becoming a big fan. I always get a Greens and Grains bowl with: spinach, arugula, brown rice, grilled chicken, the "crazy feta" dip, cauliflower quinoa tabouleh, and lemon herb tahini dressing.
  3. On the snack front, I tried out the Larabar protein bars and I love the almond butter chocolate brownie flavor.
